Measure time between calendar dates
Project managers, HR teams, travelers, and individuals use date differences for deadlines, leave periods, contracts, anniversaries, and trip lengths. The result separates exact calendar years, months, and days from simple total-day counts.
A worked example
From 1 January to 31 January is 30 elapsed days, or 31 days when “Include the end date” is enabled. The tool also reports full weeks and weekdays, excluding Saturdays and Sundays from the weekday count.

A simple, local workflow
How it works
A simple, local workflow
- 1Select the start and end dates and choose whether the final date should be counted inclusively.
- 2Calendar borrowing produces the years-months-days result, while elapsed milliseconds provide total days.
- 3A day-by-day pass counts weekdays and the tool also expresses the duration as full weeks plus remaining days.

FAQs
Common questions
What does “include the end date” mean?
It adds one day so both the starting and ending calendar dates are counted in an inclusive period.
How are working days calculated?
The weekday figure counts Monday through Friday and excludes weekends, but it does not remove public holidays.
Why can one month have 28, 29, 30, or 31 days?
Calendar months have different lengths, so the exact calendar breakdown depends on the specific dates selected.
Can the end date be before the start date?
Yes. The magnitude is calculated in chronological order and a minus sign indicates that the selected end precedes the start.
